Minds Abroad’s highly economical and flexible Chinese Language Programs are tailored for international students, both high school and college groups, who are interested in learning Mandarin on their own schedule, thereby, maximizing their intercultural experience in China. Students, availing our week-by-week Chinese Language Programs, must devote at least a week to study Mandarin. In fact, we offer all our study abroad programs in conjunction with our university partner in Kunming, the cosmopolitan capital of Yunnan, where we are based. Our teachers are backed by years of experience, teaching Chinese to international students.
Students, availing our week-by-week Chinese Language Programs, can make the best use of their afternoons by exploring various places of interest in Kunming. Alternatively, they can also resort to volunteering at local, non-profit organizations with which Minds Abroad has collaborated or earn some bucks by doling out English lessons to the local youths. This will give them an opportunity to practise their acquired language skills with native speakers of Chinese and help them gain an insight into the quirks and nuances of the culture, adding an extra edge to their entire study abroad experience.
Our customized Chinese Language Programs for school and college groups can begin anytime of the year and are a perfect blend of morning language immersion, afternoon volunteering or language exchange sessions, evening cultural activities and educational travel over the weekends to places of historical and cultural interest. These programs are tailored according to the specific needs of the groups. In addition to learning Mandarin, students also participate in hands-on, extra-curricular activities that include Chinese calligraphy, Tai-Chi and classes on Chinese painting. We have consciously incorporated these activities into our Chinese Language Programs in order to complement students’ classroom based learning. We firmly believe in “learning by doing” and this is what adds a new dimension to our study abroad programs and makes learning Chinese in China fun and exciting.
Through our Chinese Language Programs, students will not only explore a new world but will also, transfer academic credits through our Chinese language university partner. Our program is divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. In Kunming, Minds Abroad offers Mandarin classes to students of all levels. Students are given a prior placement test and placed in classes suiting their language level. Learning Mandarin from the scratch is no cakewalk. That is why, in order to ensure maximum student-teacher interaction, we limit class size to only 3 students, which allows for group interaction as well as students get the kind of one-on-one attention they need to develop language skills easily. The purpose of these classes is to help give students the basic Chinese language skills they need to fully enjoy their study abroad experience in China.
Studying abroad can be a challenge in itself for many students. Hence, we take care of everything- from accommodations to meals to chaperoning students in excursions. For faculty-led programs, teachers, who are in charge of guiding students, can travel for free.
